Mayapple is an interesting plant found in rich, deciduous forests in southeastern Minnesota. It grows on rich, dark, loamy soil that is moist but not saturated. The plants do best in partial shade, and will spread underground. The leaves and seeds are poisonous. Patches of the large, umbrella-shaped leaves are very attractive.
